TODDLER PROGRAM

Learning Through Play

The educational programs at The Learning Station were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Take a look below to learn more about each program.

YOUNG TODDLER CLASSROOM

Our young toddler classroom primarily consists of children who are one year old. If your child begins our program in the infant classroom, we will begin transitioning them into our young toddler classroom when they begin to show signs that they are ready for more space and stimulation. For some children, this takes place before the age of one, however for others, the child may be between 12-15 months before they are ready to transition.

Our toddlers like to have fun, and we do too, which is why this program is primarily play-based. Within this classroom, we are working a lot on gross motor development. Our classrooms have been purposefully designed to allow these children to move, and practice walking, running, jumping, hanging, sliding, and climbing. Additionally, we are working on fine motor skills by providing your children the opportunity to interact with different materials, including feeding themselves with a utensil at lunch. Vocabulary development is a large part of our day as well, and is supported by teachers consistently talking with your children throughout the day, singing them songs, reading them stories, and encouraging them to use their words.

OLDER TODDLER CLASSROOM

Our older toddler classroom primarily consists of children who are two years of age. If your child is already enrolled in our program, we will transition them when they begin to show signs that they are ready for more stimulation, challenge, and structure.

As children enter an older classroom, small amounts of structure are introduced to the daily schedule, however this program is still considered play-based as well. Children will be encouraged to sit in circle for story time, as well as engage in art activities pertaining to our weekly theme and annual curriculum calendar. They will have the opportunity to interact with many different kinds of materials, and will gain more independence through their self-help skills. At this age we typically begin potty training as well, and love to work with families through this process.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Children thrive on consistency and routine, so we do our best to loosely follow this schedule throughout the day. Since these children are so young, we occasionally need to stray from the schedule now and then to accommodate their needs.
